"26,500 children died yesterday of preventable causes related to their poverty...Almost 10 million children will be dead in the course of a year. All 10 million of these children will die before they reach the age of five. These deaths are caused by birth complications (21%), pneumonia (19%), diarrheal diseases (17%), neonatal illnesses (15%), malaria (8%), measles (4%), AIDS (3%), injuries (3%), and all others (10%). The conditions in which the poor live plays a HUGE role in the spread of disease. Health experts believe that undernutrition and unsafe drinking water are the two major contributors to these 10 million children dying before their fifth birthdays." - Richard Stearns, The Hole In Our Gospel
