Let me start by saying, "Thank you Barb and Bill." These past 10 days have been quite the experience. I loved watching the boys interact with their Grandma and Papa. Some of my favorite moments were: Brian Euro Jumping, Brett playing bouncy ball, Brian in the lazy river, Brett running CRAZY at the beach, Brian hunting hermit crabs, and my favorite of all was what Brian called "making memories."
There are times in life when I believe as a father it is our job to help facilitate the way God wants men to be. I believe God made men to be brave and daring, among many other attributes. John Eldredge says, "There is something fierce, passionate, and wild in the heart of every man." I had the opportunity to watch and help Brian be brave, passionate and daring over the past 10 days. I felt like he went from our passive first born to a young boy who put his helmet on and CRASHED through walls. But the most amazing part is everyday he asked questions about Jesus. "Daddy, why is Jesus in everyone's heart? Daddy, do I have to close my eyes to talk to God? Daddy, is Mommy's Grandma in heaven?"
That last question was amazing in many ways, but the most amazing thing happened the day after Brian asked that question. It sparked a conversation between Bill, my father-in-law, and I about Faith. Beth Ann and I got Bill a copy of Mere Christianity, which he is almost done with now. While Bill has been reading the book, we have had wonderful conversations. Because of the strong leaders around me and what they have taught me, I am confident that Bill and Jesus will now "work it out". Thank you Brian!!
