I had the privilege of listening to a friend of mine preach this weekend on "faith without works is dead" from James 2. It was one of those messages that grabs you and does not let go. God has been doing something with me since his message.
Beth Ann and I had dinner with two wonderful friends who have been in Chi Chi, Guatemala for the past 6 months doing missionary work. I have never been around two people who have been called by God and understood- without a doubt - that this was not a decision they were making, but a decision God made for them. The gave up blossoming careers; They left behind family members with serious illnesses; They gave up complete control of their lives and trusted the Lord and His calling. What faithful servants! After being in Guatamala about a month, God blessed them with a gift for which only He controls the timing - a pregnancy.
I finished a book called Crazy Love by Francis Chan and have been stuck on three sentences from his book: Are you willing to say to God that He can have whatever He wants? Do you believe that a wholehearted commitment to Him is more important than any other thing or person in your life? Do you know that nothing you do in this life will ever matter, unless it is about loving God and loving the people He has made? I beleive that our friends in Gautamala can answer YES to all three of those questions. That is true faith. Wow! What amazing people they are!
